Relaunch of improved public register of charities

Interesting comments from the Chief Executive of the Charity Commission. The focus on transparency that comes with the revamped version of the public charity search for England & Wales (see here.) is a helpful reminder for those working for and working with charities of the importance of good house keeping. Whether its as simple as updating charity contact details or meeting deadlines for annual returns and accounts, all helps contribute to the public perception of a charity.

I also hope that the new register display will encourage charities to continue to respond to growing public expectations around transparency and accountability. We know the public expect the way charities go about their work to be consistent with the spirit of charity, and the new mirror we are holding up to the sector should help charities respond to those expectations.
