The Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize winner announced!

On Thursday evening, we were thrilled to host the 4th Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize evening, in partnership with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.

We invited nine talented artists, who were shortlisted by our Arts team at last year's print fair, to join us at our Bankside offices, along with our colleagues and clients with a love of the arts. Guests could view the shortlisted prints and hear a bit about the inspiration and the process behind the pieces before our judges selected a winner.

We were delighted to announce Ley Roberts as the winner of the 2023 Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize, with her print Somewhere Else, 2021 (below).

Ley's work uses time-worn methods and materials, pen and ink and traditional printmaking techniques, predominantly intaglio. She uses these techniques to capture the light in her images, demonstrating how light can change the atmosphere or enhance a subject, inspiring the viewer to discover the beauty in unusual places. Winning this award means Ley will receive a solo showcase to present her work at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2024.

Congratulations to all of this year's fantastic, shortlisted artists and thank you to them for joining us for the evening. Thank you also to Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair - we are so proud at Boodle Hatfield to continue our work with you again this year and to support this event which educates collectors and novices alike on printmaking processes and techniques, gives emerging artists a platform, and shares the joy of collecting original art with the masses.

Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair is being held from 26 - 29 October at Woolwich Works, No.1 Street, Royal Arsenal, London, SE18 6HD. You can book your tickets to visit the fair here.
