Last week, we were delighted to host the second Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize giving evening with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. We hosted clients and contacts of the Art Law & More team, as well as seven artists who showcased their shortlisted prints from the 2020 edition of Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in our Bankside office.
It was a real pleasure to welcome the shortlisted artists and hear about the inspiration behind their prints and how they developed a career in printmaking. Congratulations to Jake Garfield the winner of the prize for his print, Private View (Woodcut, Lino & Stencil on BFK Rives paper). Jake Garfield explores the relationship between reality and fiction through printmaking. Mirrors, masks, and pictures-within-pictures are recurring motifs in his work that blurs the distinction between the world of the artist, the world of an image and meta-worlds within an Image. These themes are evident in his winning print Private View.
Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair has been a client of Boodle Hatfield for the past four years and we are proud to support an event which showcases the best in international contemporary print by bringing together over 500 international artists and 800 original works for an exciting line-up of ones-to-watch, well-known names and internationally renowned specialist galleries.
Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2021 is being held from 11th-14th November at Woolwich Works, No.1 Street, Royal Arsenal, London, SE18 6HD. You can book your tickets to visit the fair here.
